Luca Bosio
History
Luca Bosio Vineyards is a family-owned winery located in the heart of the Langhe region in Piedmont, Italy, an area internationally renowned for some of the country’s finest wines. The estate was originally founded in 1967 by Egidio and Angela Bosio, who began cultivating vineyards with humility, dedication, and a strong belief in the value of hard work and quality-driven farming. Over time, the Bosio family gradually expanded its vineyards and winemaking activities throughout the Piedmont region.
Today, the winery represents the third generation of the Bosio family, led by Luca Bosio, who grew up among the vineyards of Langhe and inherited a deep understanding of viticulture from his parents and grandparents. After studying oenology at the University of Turin and later earning a master’s degree in winemaking, Luca returned to the family estate with innovative ideas that modernized both vineyard management and cellar practices. In recognition of his vision and leadership, the winery officially adopted the name “Luca Bosio Vineyards.”
Under Luca’s direction, the estate expanded significantly, increasing its vineyard holdings across Piedmont and strengthening its reputation through the acquisition of Bel Colle Winery in Verduno, one of Barolo’s important historic areas. Today, Luca Bosio Vineyards produces a broad portfolio of wines that reflect the diversity of Piedmont, from Moscato d’Asti and Barbera to Barolo and Barbaresco, combining family heritage with a modern international outlook.
Philosophy & Vision
Luca Bosio Vineyards is built upon the philosophy of preserving Piedmont’s traditional winemaking heritage while embracing innovation and modern viticulture. The winery believes that technology and rural tradition can coexist harmoniously, allowing wines to maintain authenticity while achieving greater precision, purity, and consistency.
The estate works with vineyards across Langhe, Monferrato, Roero, Gavi, and surrounding areas of Piedmont, carefully selecting sites best suited to each grape variety. Indigenous varieties such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, Moscato, Arneis, and Cortese remain central to the winery’s identity, with each wine crafted to express the unique character of its terroir. The winery emphasizes minimal intervention, native yeast fermentation, careful temperature control, and techniques designed to preserve aromatic intensity and structural balance.
Innovation is also an important part of Luca Bosio’s vision. Luca continuously experiments with different aging methods, wood types, maceration techniques, and fermentation practices in order to better understand the natural characteristics of Piedmontese grapes. Despite the winery’s growth and international presence, the family remains deeply connected to the landscapes and traditions of Piedmont, viewing wine as an expression of local culture, heritage, and identity.
Certifications & Recognition
