Maison Bouey
History
Maison Bouey is a Bordeaux-based wine négociant and producer whose family wine history dates back to 1821, when Jean Bouey acquired his first vineyards in the Médoc. Over generations, the Bouey family expanded its activities from grape growing to wine production and distribution, gradually establishing itself within the Bordeaux wine trade.
A major turning point came in 1958, when Roger Bouey and his two sons, Serge and André, officially founded Maison Bouey as a dedicated Bordeaux négociant house. Rather than focusing on a single château, the company built strong relationships with growers and estates throughout Bordeaux, with the goal of expressing the individuality of each appellation and vintage.
Today, Maison Bouey continues to modernize the traditional role of the Bordeaux négociant while preserving the family’s long-standing heritage. Through extensive vineyard partnerships, strict quality control, and a wide range of wines, the house has become known for making classic Bordeaux wines more approachable and accessible to wine lovers around the world.
Philosophy & Vision
Maison Bouey’s philosophy centers on respecting the diversity of Bordeaux terroirs while crafting wines that are balanced, expressive, and easy to appreciate. Working across appellations such as Médoc, Haut-Médoc, Côtes de Bordeaux, and Saint-Émilion, the house carefully selects wines and grapes that best reflect the structure, fruit character, and elegance of each region.
As a négociant, Maison Bouey is involved far beyond simple wine trading. The company actively participates in grape selection, blending, aging, bottling, and quality control in order to ensure consistency and authenticity across every vintage. This approach allows the wines to maintain both traditional Bordeaux character and a more modern, fruit-driven style.
Maison Bouey is also recognized for presenting Bordeaux wines in a more contemporary and approachable way. Alongside classic château wines, the house produces modern collections with distinctive labels and concepts, offering everything from everyday Bordeaux wines to premium terroir-driven cuvées.
Certifications & Recognition
Maison Bouey is widely recognized for its long-standing family heritage and independent spirit within the Bordeaux wine industry. Backed by nearly two centuries of family winemaking history and a strong network of growers and estates, the house has built a reputation for offering reliable quality across a wide range of wine styles and price levels.
The Bouey family owns several vineyards and château properties in the Médoc and Haut-Médoc regions, some of which hold HVE3 (High Environmental Value) certification. The company also emphasizes sustainability and environmental responsibility through quality-focused vineyard management and modern production facilities.
Today, Maison Bouey continues to strengthen the international reputation of Bordeaux wines through exports to global markets, combining the expertise of a traditional Bordeaux négociant with a modern vision of accessible, high-quality winemaking.
