Baron des Vents, Bordeaux

History

: Cave du Marmandais is a cooperative winery representing the Côtes du Marmandais AOC, located near Marmande in the Lot-et-Garonne region of southwestern France. Its current organization was established in 2003 through the merger of two historic cooperative wineries: Cave de Beaupuy, founded in 1957 on the right bank of the Garonne River, and Cave de Cocumont, founded in 1956 on the left bank. United under the name Cave du Marmandais, the merger enabled local winegrowers to build a stronger and more integrated system for production and distribution.

Viticulture in this region dates back to the Gallo-Roman era, and during the Middle Ages the area served as an important supporting wine-producing region for nearby Bordeaux. In 1990, the region was officially recognized as the AOC Côtes du Marmandais, establishing a formal framework for quality production. Today, Cave du Marmandais manages approximately 900 hectares of vineyards with more than 100 growers and produces around 6 million bottles annually, making it the leading producer and central pillar of the regional wine industry while representing the vast majority of the appellation’s production.
