History

: Founded in 1960 in the village of Tollo, in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo, Italy, Cantina Tollo was established at a time when many Italians were leaving the rural areas of Abruzzo in search of better opportunities. In contrast, the founders of Cantina Tollo chose to remain, believing in the potential of the region's fertile land and envisioning a prosperous future through viticulture.

Life in Abruzzo during the 1960s and 1970s was far from easy. Nevertheless, Cantina Tollo played a significant role in revitalizing the local economy, dedicating years of effort to cultivating healthy vineyards and improving winemaking practices. As a result, while wine production declined in neighboring areas such as Teramo and L'Aquila, the province of Chieti achieved remarkable progress in both wine production and quality, helping establish Tollo as a true "Wine City."

Offering exceptional accessibility, competitive pricing, and consistent quality compared to many other Italian wines, Cantina Tollo has earned recognition as one of Abruzzo's leading wineries. Today, guided by its core values of passion, dedication, and shared values, Cantina Tollo has expanded beyond the Italian domestic market into Europe, North America, India, China, and other emerging markets. Approximately 35% of its total production is exported, reflecting its growth into a globally recognized winery.

: After destemming, the grapes are gently pressed and aged in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.

The name "Bellaretta" combines the Italian words "Bella," meaning "beautiful," and "Retta," meaning "straight," reflecting the picturesque landscape of the Bellaretta vineyards, where neatly aligned vine rows stretch across the land in an orderly fashion.

Produced by Cantina Tollo, one of Abruzzo's oldest and largest wineries, this wine embodies a modern, approachable style designed to appeal to a wide range of wine enthusiasts.
