Cossy Cuvee, Eclat Premier Cru Brut

History

: The history of Champagne Cossy began in 1764, when the Cossy family first started cultivating vineyards in Champagne. Initially focused on grape growing rather than Champagne production, the family later became Champagne producers during the difficult years of the early 20th century, laying the foundation for the house as it exists today.

The estate is now led by Sophie Cossy, who inherited the vineyards at the age of 25 following the passing of her father, Francis Cossy. Together with her mother Genevieve, Sophie continued the family legacy before taking full leadership of the house in 2017. Since then, she has shaped a more modern and distinctive identity for Champagne Cossy while preserving its heritage and terroir-driven philosophy.

Under Sophie’s direction, the house has introduced a renewed visual identity and refined winemaking style, including lower dosage levels and the expansion of Extra Brut cuvées, reflecting a more elegant and contemporary expression of Champagne.

About Wine

: Champagne Cossy is a third-generation Champagne house based in the Reims region, dedicated to organic and sustainable viticulture. Led by owner and winemaker Sophie Cossy, the estate gained recognition when she was awarded “Vigneron de l’Année” (Winemaker of the Year) at the 2016 Les Trophées Champenois. “Éclat,” meaning “radiance” or “brilliance,” perfectly reflects the character of this cuvée, which is crafted from grapes harvested in 2019 blended with reserve wines from the 2017 and 2018 vintages. Produced in a Brut style with a dosage of 7 g/L, the wine was also awarded a Gold Medal at the 2020 Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge.

• Chardonnay 33%, Pinot Meunier 33%, Pinot Noir 34%

• Brilliant golden yellow color with a continuous stream of fine and delicate bubbles. The nose reveals aromas of ripe fruits, honey, baguette, dried fruits, butter, and brioche. On the palate, lively notes of green apple, pear, and citrus peel create excellent balance and freshness, while a soft and rounded texture is complemented by vibrant crispness, leading to a clean and elegant finish.
