Cossy, Cuvee Origine Premier Cru Extra Brut

History

 

: The history of Champagne Cossy began in 1764, when the Cossy family first started cultivating vineyards in Champagne. Initially focused on grape growing rather than Champagne production, the family later became Champagne producers during the difficult years of the early 20th century, laying the foundation for the house as it exists today.

The estate is now led by Sophie Cossy, who inherited the vineyards at the age of 25 following the passing of her father, Francis Cossy. Together with her mother Genevieve, Sophie continued the family legacy before taking full leadership of the house in 2017. Since then, she has shaped a more modern and distinctive identity for Champagne Cossy while preserving its heritage and terroir-driven philosophy.

Under Sophie’s direction, the house has introduced a renewed visual identity and refined winemaking style, including lower dosage levels and the expansion of Extra Brut cuvées, reflecting a more elegant and contemporary expression of Champagne.

 

About Wine

 

: Champagne Cossy is a third-generation Champagne house based in the Reims region, dedicated to organic and sustainable viticulture. Led by owner and winemaker Sophie Cossy, the estate gained international recognition when she was awarded “Vigneron de l’Année” (Winemaker of the Year) at the 2016 Les Trophées Champenois. Reflecting the house’s refined and modern style, this cuvée is aged for seven years and crafted in an Extra-Brut style with a low dosage of 3 g/L. Its quality has also been recognized internationally, earning a Silver Medal at the 2020 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.

  • Pinot Meunier 40%, Pinot Noir 35%, Chardonnay 25%
  • Brilliant golden color with green reflections and abundant, shimmering bubbles. Elegant aromas of biscuit, honey, and wildflowers are layered with notes of summer fruits and pomegranate. On the palate, crisp flavors of apple, pear, apricot, and peach are complemented by toasted almonds, subtle lemon zest, and delicate hints of custard, while rich biscuit and pastry notes intertwine with vibrant minerality to create a complex and refined expression.
