History
: Maison Bouey is a family-owned wine house based in Bordeaux, France, operating as both a négociant and producer for several generations. Rather than focusing on a single château, Maison Bouey works closely with trusted growers across Bordeaux, with a philosophy centered on respecting the individuality of each terroir and faithfully expressing the character of each appellation and vintage.
The Portrait series is one of the clearest reflections of this philosophy, created with the intention of portraying each appellation and wine style as honestly and distinctly as a portrait of a person. Rather than emphasizing extravagance or excessive power, the wines focus on balance, pure fruit expression, and structure rooted in Bordeaux tradition, while remaining approachable and true to the elegance of classic Bordeaux wines.
Drawing on its long experience as a Bordeaux négociant, Maison Bouey carefully oversees every stage of production, from grape selection to blending and aging management. Through the Portrait series, the house aims to present the many faces of Bordeaux and reinterpret the value of classic Bordeaux wines for everyday enjoyment in a modern way.
About Wine
: This wine is crafted from grapes grown at a family-owned winery located in the heart of Saint-Germain-d’Esteuil in the Médoc, combined with the expertise of renowned Bordeaux négociant Maison Bouey to fully express the charm and elegance of the Bordeaux appellation. Produced from sustainably farmed vineyards covering approximately 20 hectares of clay-limestone soils, the wine pairs beautifully with foie gras, veal and various meat dishes, chicken, cheese platters, and even red fruit tarts.
Tasting Note
The wine displays a beautiful and vivid red color, with generous aromas of plum, raspberry, and blackberry complemented by delicate oak notes. Medium-bodied and approachable in style, it reveals vibrant cherry flavors alongside nuances of spice and tobacco, all balanced by silky tannins and a well-structured finish.
