History
: Château Clos de Boüard was founded in the Montagne Saint-Émilion appellation by Coralie de Boüard, daughter of Hubert de Boüard — the legendary figure behind the renowned Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé A estate Château Angélus. Having grown up on the Angélus estate and worked alongside her father for over a decade, Coralie launched her own project in 2006 together with her husband, Tour Musset, to fulfill her long-awaited dream of creating wines under her own vision.
Combining the expertise inherited from Hubert de Boüard with modern winemaking techniques, the estate produces refined wines that highlight both elegance and terroir expression. The vineyards benefit from an exceptional geographical location with ideal sun exposure, and are planted with vines averaging 35 years of age. The estate cultivates approximately 20 hectares of Merlot, 7.4 hectares of Cabernet Franc, and 2.6 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, with blends adjusted according to each vintage. In addition to the flagship Château Clos de Boüard, the estate also produces its second wine, Dame de Boüard, offering outstanding quality with excellent value.
About Wine
: Dame de Boüard, the second wine of Château Clos de Boüard, is distinguished by its elegant label inspired by romantic occasions such as weddings, making it an especially attractive gift wine. Crafted from grapes grown on the clay-limestone soils of Montagne Saint-Émilion and refined under the consulting expertise of Hubert de Boüard, the wine expresses both freshness and sophistication. It is aged for 10 to 14 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new oak, adding depth and a refined bouquet while preserving vibrant fruit character.
Tasting Note
Deep garnet-purple in color, the wine reveals aromas of crushed red and black plums, wild blueberries, black cherries, violet, and anise. Medium- to full-bodied with excellent balance, it offers soft tannins and refreshing acidity that enhance the dark fruit flavors. Nuances of orange peel, eucalyptus, sage, and mint add further elegance and complexity to the finish. Wine Advocate awarded the 2018 vintage 88–90 points, while James Suckling rated it 92 points.
