Windowrie Winery, located on a hill overlooking the beautiful landscape of the Cowra region, was established in 1987 in the Canowindra region, approximately 26km north of Cowra centre. Windowrie Winery's goal and advantage is to provide good quality wine at a reasonable price by reflecting the region's unique character in the wine.
The O'Dea Family
David O’Dea purchased the field in 1959, and after completing his agricultural degree in 1961, he married Wizz O’Dea in 1964 and started a family-run winery, which continues the tradition to this day. At first, he raised crops, but after becoming convinced that the natural environment was suitable for grapes, he planted and began cultivating grapevines for the first time in this area in 1980. The O'DEA family's challenge of starting a new endeavor has completely changed their lives. This is because it started as a small winery and is now recognized as the best winery in the region, both in name and reality, with over 45 employees. Windowrie Vineyard and Winery received Grade A organic certification in 1992 through organic farming methods that attempted to introduce healthy wine to consumers, and they make wine while maintaining the belief that healthy nature makes healthy wine.
Vineyard
The vineyard, located on a gentle hill, boasts optimal conditions for exhaust, drainage, and sunlight. We create heat from north to south so that the vines can receive enough sunlight, and try various canopy management methods depending on the soil and grape variety to revitalize the grapes and determine the fruit flavor, the biggest characteristic of this wine. The O'Dea family believes and practices that when natural conditions such as soil, climate, topography, drainage, and careful management over a long period of time are all in perfect harmony, clean, fresh, and rich tasting wine is produced.
Without hesitating to take on new challenges, O’Dea’s wines, which are made with the future in mind, are receiving recognition by being placed at the top of wine competitions in Australia. This wine, which has always been recognized by wine critics for both “quality” and “price,” is greatly loved by wine lovers who pursue reasonable consumption.
